Idle A While
Idle A While is a charming boutique-hotel on Negril's Seven Mile Beach. This is a great choice for someone looking for a clean, but not fussy resort. If you are the down-to-earth type who would enjoy a peaceful, easy-going resort where your room is clean and you are just steps from all the beach has to offer, then this might be the one for you.
Don't expect the Ritz--if you want 5-star luxury, stay elsewhere.
It's a little more costly that some other comparable beach hotels, but loaded with it's own brand of charm and plenty of personality. The the friendly staff, at Idle A While, goes out of it's way to make sure you have a memorable holiday. By far, most who stay here are pleased they did and eager to return.
The hotel is set on a long narrow lot, with an abundance of greenery! No need to pay for an oceanview, when you'll need to peek thru the dense foliage to get a glimpse of the sea. Also, due to the foliage around the hotel, the rooms can seem a little dark during the day.
I'd recommend the second floor for more daylight and a better chance to catch the evening breezes. Rooms have A/C in bedrooms only & large louvered windows--so, to cool the spacious one-bedrooms, you'll need to close all the louvers, turn up the A/C in the bedroom and run the fans, that way you can cool the whole space.
Better yet, just do it island style! Open all the louvers, pray for a breeze, enjoy the tree frogs serenade and listen to reggae music from nearby nightspots (often until the wee hours of the night).
You'll find a variety of spacious accommodations with great verandahs and patios. They have 8 deluxe rooms with private verandahs, 6 one-bedroom suites with kitchens and large verandahs and a junior suite with kitchen and enclosed patio. All have A/C in the bedrooms and Cable TV.
There is a restaurant and bar (Chill A While) on the premises, but be sure to take advantage your great location to try of some of the great restaurants and nightspots nearby.
At the beach, the lounge chairs have foam mats (or floats) on top. They provide a nice soft cushion and can be taken into the water for sunning and swimming.
For lunch, don't miss the patties from "Miss Sonja's" just down the beach. If you go to the Swept Away to take advantage of the complimentary 10 Acre fitness center, walk the beach or take a taxi (don't walk on the road-it's not fun).To contact Idle A While~
