Jamaican Waterfalls Be sure to bring your swimsuit. . . .

Jamaican waterfalls are some of the most beautiful in all the Caribbean. Because Jamaica is so mountainous you will find waterfalls all over the island.

YS Falls in St. Elizabeth Parish--about an hour from Negril--is surrounded by beautiful countryside on Jamaica’s underdeveloped South Coast.

As far as Jamaican waterfalls go, at this larger falls you will hike 120 feet to the top of one of the island’s most breathtaking waterfalls. The water thunders down seven levels and cascades into natural pools.

YS Falls makes a perfect day trip when combined with a trip to the Black River Safari. More about Jamaica's Southcoast . . . and the perfect day trip!

Located nearer to Negril, Mayfield Falls River Walk is a total of ¾ miles in length. You will trek through river currents, splash in 7 natural Jacuzzi (offering a natural full body massage), romp up 21 waterfalls.

You‘ll want water shoes, so bring your own or rent some there. Because the groups are limited to 8 guests, the guides are able to provide plenty of individual, personalized attention to everyone.

While you are there, don‘t miss the underwater cave for two where you’ll learn to breathe underwater. Your tour ends with a Caribbean feast served under a private thatched hut overlooking the falls.

Since these Mayfield Falls are fairly close to Negril, it can be combined with a trip to Roaring River Park or Royal Palm Estate.

The most famous of all waterfalls in Jamaica is Dunn's River Falls. Located near Ocho Rios, on the North Coast, it is the quite a drive from Negril (hours). By itself, I don't think it is worth the drive. Dunn's River falls has a very commerical feel. And, due to it's location (very near to cruise port in Ocho Rios) can be quite crowded at times. In my opinion, if you want to visit one Jamaican waterfalls (YS Falls is less commercial and a far better choice)!

If, however, you are planning a trip to visit Nine Mile, the birthplace of Bob Marley, in the hills of St Anne; combining the visit to Nine Mile with Dunn's River Falls makes a wonderful day trip.
