How can I tell if a Negril Jamaica honeymoon is right for me?Below you will find a brief description of Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril. Ocho Rios and Montego Bay are the other two most popular destinations in Jamaica for honeymooners.

For all three Jamaican destinations you would fly into Montego Bay. Montego Bay is the most populated of these 3 resort areas and located just about an equal distance from Ocho Rios (2 hours drive to the East and Negril (almost 1 1/2 hours to the West). The three resorts areas have completely different personalities.

If you are staying in Montego Bay area you will be at most 20 minutes or so from the airport. Since it is the most populated of the N. Coast resort areas; when moving around the area, you will encounter lots of traffic, and activity (restaurants, night clubs, shops, etc). Beach hotels generally have smaller pockets of beach (no large strip of beach to walk along).

Ocho Rios, East of Montego Bay (2 hours drive) is a little more spread out. The beach hotels are located along a strip of beach and for the beach lovers you can walk the beach from one end to the next (maybe a 1/2 hour in each direction). Large cruise ship pier brings thousands of visitors to this area several days a week. The cruise ships aren't hard to miss. If you see one or more docked at the pier, just know downtown for shopping, the beach, as well as local attractions like Dunn's River Falls will be more crowded during these times.

Negril is different from the rest. It has a very casual, easy going atmosphere. Very casual dressing -- even in the evening and a long white sand beach that stretches for seven miles (areas of the beach as well as some resorts offer clothing optional). Most everything is available from the beach. Restaurants, hotels, beach bars and shopping. As you walk the beach you can find water sports galore (glass bottom boat rides, para sailing, jet skis, snorkeling, diving, etc).
