Negril Lighthouse towers 100 feet above the cliffs.

The Negril Lighthouse, a renowned landmark, still guides ships safely around Jamaica's western edge.

It was built before the turn of the last century and has served the Jamaican people since 1895. It's located out the West End Road and just past Rick's Cafe.

Early this century, the power source was converted from electric to solar energy.

This lighthouse is great for a short getaway in Negril. Take a look around and see the grounds. Stop by the adjacent caretaker's cottage and, for a trip, climb to the top--you'll have spectacular views of the sea and the countryside. Even more beautiful is the same view at sunset!

Facts: The concrete tower is 20 m (66 ft) above the ground and the light is elevated 30 m (100 ft) above sea level. The lighthouse has an automatic white light which flashes every two seconds.
