RIcks Cafe Negril Jamaica and cliff jumping is are a uniquely exhilarating West End activity.

Ricks Cafe Negril Jamaica is the spot where, every afternoon, before sunset, an enthusiastic crowds gather to watch the famous sunsets and local Jamaican divers perform daring dives from the cliffs into the clear emerald sea below.

Tourists begin to gather late in the afternoon in anticipation of the activities around sunset. After things get going the place gets packed. It's a good idea to get there around 3-4pm to make sure you get a good spot and have time to loosen up with a few drinks. Tourists definitely do get into the action as well. All it takes to jump is enough rum to overcome one’s better judgment. The highest diving platform is 35 ft above the sea.

Although there are other places for cliff jumping in Negril Jamaica, this one is, without question, the most famous.

In September 1988, Hurricane Gilbert completely destroyed Rick's Cafe. Waves in excess of 25 feet crashed over the cliffs and treetops. After rebuilding, Rick's Cafe came back more spectacular than ever. Sixteen years later, Hurricane Ivan destroyed Rick's on September, 11 2004. More destructive than Gilbert, waves in excess of 60 to 80 feet crashed over the cliffs and treetops. Again, the establishment came back bigger and better than ever.

Even with all the improvements over the years, Rick's Cafe has managed to hold on to most or all of it's original ambiance. This famous Negril cafe , was voted one of the “Ten Best Bars In the World” by Caribbean Travel and Life is now bigger and better than ever! After suffering fierce destruction of Hurricane Ivan in 2004, the cafe has been rebuilt and is now open!

Drinking cocktails, socializing and watching the spectacular sunsets have long been a tradition at Rick's in West End Jamaica and now you can enjoy it all from a new two-story restaurant, infinity pool, lounge deck, Caribbean rope swing and brand new jump site.
