At Tensing Pen is a very private, secluded boutique hotel on the cliffs of Negril. The grounds are immaculate, lush & well maintained. Thick tropical foliage with waving palms and hibiscus in every shade imaginable. You'll feel like you are on our own private island, surrounded by a jungle. Pathways wind all through the grounds revealing breathtaking ocean views with each turn. There are many places to jump into the ocean, including an awsome wooden bridge.
The location is excellent. You can walk to town or there is a market, with reasonable prices, just across the street. Each room has a mini-refrigerator, so you can stock up and snack whenever you like. This resort was designed with rest and relaxation in mind. You can snorkel off the shore, or swim in the sea. A pool will be welcome addition and is under construction--ask about the status when you book.
When possible, Tensing Pen implements principles of sustainable development in the construction of the entire resort. An example of this would be the use of bamboo, harvested from a local bamboo farm, which was used to construct many of the beds and roof deck.

Generous continental breakfast is included with cereal, toast, juice, fruit and even omelletes or eggs made to order. Two options for Lunch and Dinner. The menu is posted every morning. You can order Pizza for lunch (but need a day's notice). The meals are cooked to order-so reservations are required for dinner. Most quests enjoy the fresh, tasty, well-prepared food. If you need more choices there are other dining establishments are nearby. Drinks, at the bar, are reasonable and the bartender is fun an entertaining
Each cottage is very unique. In the Pillar units closer to the sea, you'll be lulled to sleep by the waves hitting the cliffs. The cove cottage is in the middle of the resort, so people are passing by a little more frequently. The rock cottages are very private & nice, but not directly next to the water. Not all unites have A/C and none have telephones, TV's or clocks.
All have stone terraces and provide commanding views of the gardens or sea. Most have exhilarating outdoor showers.
This is a very peaceful, calm boutique hotel. If you are a lover of cultural diversity and don't care for the cookie cutter all-inclusive experience, you should love Tensing Pen. It is wonderfully understated and remarkably quaint. Pictures simply don’t do it justice. The staff is warm, friendly, helpful, and accommodating, while also providing enough distance for guests to feel as if they are at their own private resort.
