Xtabi Resort
Xtabi Resort offers a secluded group of cottages perched on striking clifftop location in Negril, Jamaica overlooking a turquoise sea. The reception area and the pool are located across the road from the cliffs. Additional gardenview and poolview rooms, in the same area, lack the romantic feeling of the dramatic cliffside cottages. The restaurant is open-air and cliffside--specialties in seafood (spectacular view and great food). A large veranda and circular bar provides the ideal spot for tropical drinks. When you are at the bar, be sure to ask for Donovan and one of his famous drinks, a "Dirty Banana" or maybe a "Pina Colada". Follow a staircase that winds down to the sea cave and a 2nd bar. Romantic dinners for two can be arranged in one of the private sea caves. Continue on down the winding stairs past ledges that look out over the sea. Go ahead! Try a jump jump into the cool water below. Or, as you continue down, the spiral staircase leads down through a cave to small sliver of sandy beach below. The many grottos along the cliffs are perfect to explore and the shallow reefs nearby ensure great snorkeling. The 8 octagonal sea-side cottages, spead out on the cliffs, have private patios for sunning. All have ceiling fans and private baths and are clean and airy. Spiral staircases lead down to private, sheltered areas for clothing-optional sunning and access to the sea. No TV's or phones. Three of the cottages have kitchenettes, simple furnishings, king, double, or twin beds, showers. The largest units are #'s 1 and 3 (with kitchens & baths downstairs and bedrooms up)--and, of course, the views of the sea are spectacular. Across the road are a variety of basic accommodations located right behind the check-in area in the gardens near the pool. These clean and comfortable accommodations and have a private bathroom as well as verandah or balcony. They are just a few minutes walk from the cliffs. Be sure to ask for one of the newer units with A/C. A few have cable TV. All who stay here have one thing in common--they are all young at heart. Popular spot for weddings.
